The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own. I only recommend products or services that I believe, based on my expertise, are worthy of such endorsement. A link to a Web page does not necessarily mean that I endorse its content. If I particularly want to recommend something or someone based on personal experience, I will say so in plain English. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider.
I have a part-time business as a professional genealogical researcher, indexer, author and speaker. If I write about my services or experiences, I will always respect client confidentiality.
I receive negligible compensation for Google or Amazon ads that appear on this blog, but I leave them there because some people have told me that they find them useful. I have no control over most of the advertising, but if an Amazon ad appears under the heading 'I Recommend', I personally use that product. No-one has asked me to say I like it, but I would receive a small compensation for sales made through that link to Amazon.
When I am invited to speak at genealogy events, I usually receive a small gift or payment and/or reimbursement of at least some of my expenses, which may include registration, travel, accommodation or meals. Any compensation I receive does not depend on the number of attendees, so I can promote the events with a clear conscience! The more people who attend, the greater the benefit to the genealogy community as a whole.
As a professional genealogist, I am entitled to a discount on some products ordered through Gould Genealogy.
I occasionally receive complimentary copies of genealogy-related magazines, especially those to which I have contributed an article. I also received a complimentary copy of the first edition of Inside History magazine (which I think is excellent).
This blog does not contain any content that in my opinion might present a conflict of interest.
