About Me

I have been interested in family history since the 1970s. Most of my personal research involves England, Scotland and Australia, but I have recently discovered an Irish ancestor. I also have German and Prussian forebears, but someone else has been investigating those lines. Use the tabs above to go to pages with details of surnames and places I am researching.

In 1986 I established my own part-time business as a professional genealogist, and I was subsequently accredited by the Australasian Association of Genealogists and Record Agents. I have a Graduate Diploma in Local and Applied History (University of New England, Armidale NSW). In 2001 I received the Queensland Family History Society's Award for Services to Family History.

My professional speciality is research at Queensland State Archives. I particularly enjoy tracing living descendants and working with unusual sources that overcome 'dead ends' in family history research. My Web site consists of about 100 pages with free advice on sources and techniques for genealogical research; over 51,000 names from my indexes to Archives sources, cemeteries and certificates; and details of my publications, seminars and research services.

Email: My email address is in the sidebar. My Web site lists an alternative email address, which appears as an image to minimise spam (junk email). If I you do not receive a response to an email, it may be because your Internet Service Provider rejected my reply. Contact me again quoting an alternative email address, or write a letter to my postal address. Allow several weeks for a reply, as I am often away in a rural area without Internet access.
